Ørsted leader to Chair industry health and safety group

Against a backdrop of continued growth in the international offshore wind sector, the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation (G+) has today announced Lisbeth Norup Frømling as its new Chair.

Stepping up from her role as Vice-Chair, Lisbeth assumes the position following 5 years as a G+ Board member. She will lead G+’s critical work driving improved safety standards in the offshore wind industry through data reporting, good practice guidance, and industry workshops.

Lisbeth has served as Senior Vice President of QHSE at Danish energy company Ørsted for the past 5 years and brings over 20 years of experience in QHSE roles from her time at Maersk Drilling, Rolls-Royce and Network Rail. Lisbeth is supported by Giles Mackey, Head of Health, Safety & Sustainability at bp, who has been appointed Vice Chair of G+.

The G+ Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation comprises thirteen leading operators – bp, Corio Generation, EDF Renewables, Equinor, Iberdrola, Ocean Winds, Ørsted, RWE, Siemens Gamesa, SSE Renewables, TotalEnergies, Vattenfall and Vestas – as well as an expanding array of international associate members.

Setup in partnership with the Energy Institute, G+ works globally to tackle health and safety issues in the industry through four main work programmes: incident data reporting, good practice guidelines, safe by design and learning from incidents.

As part of the drive to ensure lessons learned from these incidents are made freely available, G+ is continuing to make safety incident lessons available through Toolbox, the Energy Institute’s free-to-use incident lessons platform.

With expanding operations and funding in the Asia Pacific and North American regions, G+ is continuing to utilise the lessons learned from high potential incidents that occurred during the early stages of offshore wind in Europe to develop good practice guidelines, in multiple languages, to support safe offshore wind operations in these regions.
