The Energy Institute has today announced Ember as a strategic partner for the 2026 Statistical Review of World Energy. The partnership will strengthen the delivery of this critical industry report, ensuring it continues to be the most comprehensive, accessible and trusted energy dataset to the global energy community.
Ember, a leading non-profit global energy think tank, will bring its distinctive analytical capabilities and policy expertise to the Statistical Review, helping to translate its rich dataset and findings into actionable insights for an expanded international audience. The partnership represents a significant step forward in maximising the impact and reach of the Statistical Review's data across policymakers, investors, analysts and energy professionals worldwide.
The Statistical Review of World Energy has been the definitive source of objective, global energy data since bp created it in 1952. Donated from bp to the Energy Institute in 2023, the Review continues to be the most reliable account of energy production, consumption, trade and emissions, the first data source in the year to provide a complete global picture of the previous year.
Ember's addition as a co-author, alongside KPMG and Kearney, amplifies the Review's capacity to meet the growing demand for rigorous, data-driven analysis in the energy transition. Through the new arrangement, the Statistical Review will continue to be free to all users.
Announcing the partnership on day one of International Energy Week 2026, Energy Institute President Andy Brown OBE celebrated the new partner:
"Ember shares our commitment to ensuring that the world's most reliable energy data reaches decision makers and influencers where it matters most.
"Their analytical capabilities and policy lens will help us extend the impact of the Statistical Review globally. As the energy transition accelerates, access to independent, authoritative data has never been more critical - and with Ember's strategic partnership, alongside our existing relationship with KPMG and Kearney, we're better equipped to serve that need across all regions and sectors."
Aditya Lolla, Interim Managing Director at Ember, added:
“We are honoured to partner with the Energy Institute on this cornerstone publication. For 75 years, the Statistical Review has been the go-to source for those shaping the world’s energy future. Today, its role is more vital than ever, providing a robust foundation for navigating the rapid shifts that are redefining how the world is powered.”
