Pattern Energy Group has begun operation at its 150 MW Lanfine Wind power project in Alberta, Canada.

The Lanfine wind farm consists of 35 Vestas V150 4.3 MW turbines, which will generate enough power for about 30,000 homes in Alberta each year.

The project has entered into a 10-year power purchase agreement with West Fraser, a diversified wood products company for approximately 50% of the facility’s output, supporting the company’s efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% by 2030.

About 250 workers were on-site during peak construction activity, which was managed by Borea Construction. In addition to employment and contracting opportunities, the Lanfine project will generate landowner revenue and provide tax revenue to the local community.
