Work on the 140 MW Karavasta solar plant, located in the Fier district, south of Albania, is now complete with the plant ready to provide electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of 220,000 residents.

The Karavasta solar plant is also expected to prevent the emission of over 29,165 t/y of CO2, roughly 7% of the emissions from the Albanian industrial sector. The Albanian government is targeting 54.4% of renewable energies in the country’s gross energy consumption by 2030.

The project, which covers about 200 hectares and was finished in less than 18 months, is supported by long-term sale contracts.
