All 62 of the offshore wind turbines at the Saint-Brieuc wind farm in France have now been installed.

Less than three years after the start of construction, Ailes Marines, a 100% subsidiary of Iberdrola, announced in December that the last 8 MW wind turbine of the Saint-Brieuc wind farm, offshore Brittany, had been installed on its jacket foundation.

Once fully commissioned, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of 496 MW, producing approximately 1,820 GWh/y, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 835,000 people (including heating), or 9% of the total electricity consumption of Brittany.

Commissioning of the wind farm has been underway since July 2023, with the first tranche of 20% already operational. A second tranche of 50% will be completed in early 2024, with the remainder due to complete by the end of 1Q2024.

Spain’s first hybrid hydroelectric and solar plant

In other news, Iberdrola has obtained environmental approval for Spain’s first hybrid photovoltaic (PV) and hydroelectric plant. The HIDRO Cedillo project, located in Extremadura, in the municipality of Cedillo, will have a capacity of 86.4 MW, with more than 160,000 PV modules and a fixed structure.
