Wylfa confirmed as the UK’s first SMR site

The UK government’s ambition to lead a ‘new nuclear age’ took a major step forward last week with the announcement that Wylfa, on the coast of Ynys Môn (Anglesey) in North Wales, will host the UK’s first small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear power plant. The cause of hydrogen advances in Europe with new Austrian electrolyser and EC market push

Europe’s hydrogen ambitions are gathering pace with OMV and Masdar joining forces to build one of the continent’s largest green hydrogen plants in Austria. Early days for COP30

There are mixed tidings from COP30 in Belém, Brazil, this week. On the positive front, there is new green grid investment from some of the leading global multilateral development banks. At least one oil major has committed to extending renewables investment while others pull back; but climate activists and indigenous communities are concerned that the Summit is mostly a talking shop and their lives are still in danger, despite promises of a just transition.
