Does switching from coal to gas really reduce greenhouse gas emissions?

The calculation of total emissions from gas and coal-fired power generation units must include those from leaked methane, particularly with coal bed methane and shale gas. Here, Debo Adams from the IEA Clean Coal Centre looks at emissions from both, while also describing a couple of novel ways to get more energy from coal.
