World’s largest gas turbine

The world’s largest gas turbine has reached ‘first fire’ at an EDF combined-cycle power plant in Bouchain, France. With a power generating capcity of 575 MW, the GE 9HA.01 turbine weighs 400 tonnes and was shipped to the plant in June last year following validation testing early in 2015. The unit is expected to reach commercial operation later this year.
