CHP for German chemical park

A 60 MW electric, 100 MW thermal combined heat and power plant has commenced operation at the Marl chemical park in Germany, one of Europe’s largest integrated chemical industry sites.

The power plant was developed, financed and built by E.ON Connecting Energies and will be operated by Evonik Industries. It replaces an old coal-fired unit. The plant’s fuel utilisation rate is 89%, says E.ON.

The chemical plant has been generating most of its electricity on site for a number of decades.
