France plans palm oil biofuels ban

The new centrist government in France has said it may block the domestic sale of biofuels which have used palm oil as a feedstock, in a bid to reduce deforestation in producing countries, reports Keith Nuthall. French Evironment Minister Nicolas Hulot, previously an environmental activist, said: ‘We will close a window that offered the possibility for using palm oil in biofuels.’
