Energy Barometer 2018 - coming soon

The latest snapshot of UK energy professionals’ views – the Energy Barometer – will be published by the EI on 19 June at its Energy Systems Conference in Westminster.

The 2018 report surveys sentiment among professionals following a year of dramatic ‘firsts’ across the sector – including the first subsidy-free solar farm, a halving in the cost of offshore wind, the first complete days without any coal on the grid and the government’s announcement of a ban on new petrol and diesel cars by 2040. Views on the government’s flagship Clean Growth and Industrial Strategies, Brexit, energy prices and progress against climate change targets will also be covered. Special in-depth chapters will focus on transport and workforce diversity.

This is the fourth year the EI will have published the Energy Barometer, which is designed to enhance the role of energy professionals and their expertise in the public debate about energy. Previous reports can be found at knowledge.energyinst.org/barometer

Keynote speakers at the Energy Systems Conference on 19-20 June, jointly hosted by the EI and Elsevier, will include Committee on Climate Change Chair Lord Deben, Sustainable Energy for All CEO Rachel Kyte, OFGEM CEO Dermot Nolan and ENGIE UK CEO Wilfrid Petrie.
