Eni announces new oil find offshore Mexico
Eni has made an oil discovery in Upper Miocene sequences on the Sayulita exploration prospect in block 10 in the mid-deepwater of the Cuenca Salina Sureste Basin, offshore Mexico. According to preliminary estimates the new find may contain 150–200mn boe in place.
The new find comes after last year’s Saasken discovery and opens the potential commercial development of block 10 as several other prospects could be produced as a cluster, reports Eni.
Eni is operator of block 10, holding a 65% stake, partnered by Lukoil (20%) and Capricorn, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cairn Energy (15%).
