US looking to cut GHG emissions by half
US President Joe Biden is trying to get Congress to agree to a $500bn spending package to tackle climate change, to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions by half.
The deal could put the US in the lead in the battle against global warming at COP26, but President Biden faces strong opposition from Democratic Senator John Minchin from West Virginia, the second largest coal producer in the US, along with the Republicans.
