ExxonMobil and Pertamina to evaluate CCUS in Indonesia
ExxonMobil and Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina have signed a memorandum of understanding to evaluate the potential for large-scale deployment of low-carbon technologies in Indonesia, including carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen.
The International Energy Agency projects that carbon capture and storage (CCS) could mitigate up to 15% of global emissions by 2040, while the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates global decarbonisation efforts could be twice as costly without its wide-scale deployment.
