TotalEnergies signs carbon sink agreements

TotalEnergies has established partnerships with Australian carbon developers Agriprove and Corporate Carbon to develop natural underground carbon sinks in Australia and help prevent savanna fires, notably in Africa.

In partnership with AgriProve, a 20,000-hectare soil carbon sequestration operation will be designed to remove and sequester more than 3mn tCO
2e. Meanwhile, in partnership with Corporate Carbon, TotalEnergies will develop an international methodology for savanna fire management based on Australian indigenous land management know-how to help preserve African landscapes.

The French company has also signed an agreement with the Government of Suriname to preserve millions of hectares of Suriname’s Amazon forest as carbon sinks, under a carbon credit exchange agreement.
