In Germany, MTU has taken delivery of a Dornier 228 for modification with a 600 kW hydrogen-electric low-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel-cell propulsion system. MTU is also exploring the use of SAF in turbine engines, together with the emission-reducing water-enhanced turbofan concept using steam injection and wet combustion
