New Fellowship route recognises the best in energy
The Energy Institute launches its new route to Fellowship this month – the aim, to recognise the people who make a real difference in energy. The move follows a successful pilot during 2021, which saw over 30 new Fellows join the EI from across the energy sector.
“It’s a truly exciting time in energy – we are seeing so much talent and innovation developing as the energy transition gathers pace”, says Benj Sykes HonFEI, Ørsted’s VP Offshore and Head of Environment, Consenting & External Affairs, who chairs the EI’s Fellowship Board.
“We want to create a diverse and inclusive Fellowship, and encourage those who might not necessarily have considered applying before to think about putting themselves forward.”
The Fellowship application process focuses on achievement in a choice of 14 categories, from technical expertise, innovation and research, to championing access to energy and supporting the professional development of others.
Applicants can be nominated by others who wish to recognise their success or by putting themselves forward, choosing up to three categories as the basis of their application.
The focus is on contribution and achievement which is positive, distinctive, significant and sustained. “Fellowship isn’t just about doing your job well - it’s about making a distinctive impact and going the extra mile. Whatever you do in the sector, we want to understand how you make a difference.”
