A Wilkins, Plastic can be recycled into hydrogen fuel and graphene, New Scientist, 7 October 2023, p 11

In US, Rice University has found a low cost method of producing hydrogen and graphene without releasing CO2 by rapidly heating a mix of waste polyethylene and a conductive material to 2800°C in about 4 seconds. The resulting gases comprise 92% hydrogen plus methane and propane. Commercial-scale production could be achieved within 10 years.
