In Switzerland, Smartflyer has developed the SF-1, a hybrid trainer aircraft incorporating a battery-powered electric motor with a small combustion engine and generator to extend the range by 800 km. A 25% reduction in emissions is possible, together with a 50% reduction in operating costs.
