Oil and gas developments in the Falklands
When critics of the war over the Falkland Islands claimed that the military action was about oil and gas reserves, few paid them much heed. After all, Argentina had committed an act of naked aggression against a small remote community that wanted to remain British. Whilst this is of course true, the fact also remains that there does appear to be significant oil and gas reserves in the South Atlantic around the Falklands, and furthermore, the likelihood of them being exploited is becoming increasingly realistic.
