Drilling efficiency optimisation and automation

Drilling operations are notoriously expensive and face increasing challenges as the oil sector works at far greater depths and tackles enhanced oil recovery projects and emerging plays in difficult environments. As in most industries, speed and efficiency can only be achieved through increasing levels of automation. Shell, Statoil and others have embarked on drilling efficiency optimisation and automation programmes which promise to slash drill costs.
