Why cap and trade is not the solution

‘Climate change’ and ‘global warming’ have crept their way into our everyday vocabulary, alerting us to the hazards of exponentially increasing concentrations of (mainly) carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Earth’s atmosphere. Cap and trade, also referred to as emissions trading or the carbon market, has emerged as a headline solution to climate change. But is it? Theresa Ruhayel summarises the common problems with carbon swapping, and notes that emissions trading could be the next financial bubble in the making.
