Rigs, recessions and the tyranny of the futures curve

As part of a recent engagement, energy business analyst Douglas-Westwood's New York office was asked to prepare a forecast of newbuild orders for drillships and semisubmersibles. Collectively referred to as 'floaters', these are used for oil and gas drilling in deepwater. Managing Director Steven Kopits reports.
