Could fusion be brought down to earth?

Imagine an energy source that will last tens of thousands of years, is safe and clean, and whose main fuels are found in water. Sounds too good to be true? In fact, Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) in Oxfordshire is leading the way in a worldwide effort to harness the power source of the Sun and stars for electricity here on earth.
