Improving the performance of biodiesel

In the biodiesel world, Infineum report that development in fuel injection systems have led to filtration problems following the increasing addition of biofuels such as FAME to diesel feedstocks. Precipitation occurring above the cloud point is due to a number of storage and operating factors, but mainly due to the presence of impurities such as saturated monoglycerides and sterol glucosides. However, filter blocking can be reduced or even eliminated by the use of suitable diesel fuel additives.
