Coal-fired CCS plants may have a higher environmental impact than current gas-fuelled plants
Coal-fired power plants incorporating carbon capture and storage technology may not deliver the expected 90% cuts to carbon emissions. Once performance is analysed according to whole life or whole system principles, other factors such as methane emissions from coal mining come into play – writes Dr Craig Jones.
