Life extensions for existing AGRs maximise today’s nuclear output

EDF Energy is very much in the public eye for its ambitious programme of building new nuclear power plants, staring at Hinkley Point in Somerset. But the company also operates a large fleet of AGR plants (and the Sizewell B PWR) in the UK, achieving record outputs from them last year, and is busy extending their operational lives well beyond the original periods.
