North American LNG plans

Energy Transfer Partners and BG Group have signed a project development agreement for the planned conversion of the Trunkline LNG import terminal in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to a liquefaction and export facility, reports Hazardous Cargo Bulletin. The plan involves three 5mn t/y liquefaction trains and the use of existing LNG storage and jetty capacity. Technip is carrying out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) study, with a view to the partners making a final investment decision (FID) in 2015.

Meanwhile, the South Central Alaska LNG project has chosen a site near Nikiski on the Kenai Peninsula for its liquefaction and export terminal facilities. The project, a joint venture between ExxonMobil, BP, ConocoPhillips and TransCanada, will run an 800-mile, 42-inch pipeline from the North Slope, which will have at least five off-take points for in-state gas delivery.
