LNG terminal planned in Uruguay
GDF Suez has confirmed plans to set up an LNG storage and regasification terminal in Uruguay and has signed a 15-year BOOT (build, own, operate, transfer) contract with Gas Sayago, reports Hazardous Cargo Bulletin. The offshore facility, to be located in the Punta Sayago area near Montevideo, will comprise a floating storage/regasification unit (FSRU), jetty and breakwater and will be able to handle LNG carriers of up to 218,000 cm. The shuttle vessel GDF Suez Neptune will be employed as a bridge solution from 2015 until a newbuild FSRU, contracted to Mitsui OSK, is delivered.
