Unlocking stranded coal

Deep, stranded coal seams could become a substantial source of new low carbon ‘syngas’ supplies in the future through the use of underground coal gasification (UCG), writes Tony Lodge. Cluff Natural Resources is looking to achieve this in the UK, while a number of other companies are utilising UCG elsewhere in the world.
