‘Green Curtains’ reduce energy use
Solar power company Kyocera has been planting foliage, what it calls green curtains, on the walls of its Japanese production sites – to provide shade for the rooms inside and to lower the need for air conditioning.
The company says the foliage can lower building temperatures by 2°C. It has estimated that it has covered 4,300 m2 of walls with the curtains.
