Gas turbine packages based on Rolls-Royce turbines provide on-site power to an oil field in Siberia, Russia – see the news story on page 3. This issue features the use of both natural and unconventional gas; from the troubles that some European utilities are having keeping gas-fired combined cycle power stations operational; through the position of short and long-term gas storage in the UK; to the use of two unconventionals: shale gas and LP Gas, also in Britain.
