The Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSRs) and the Wind Turbine System Safety Rules (WTSSRs) provide a comprehensive framework for establishing a robust Safe System of Work (SSoW). This framework supports the management of risks associated with working or testing on Plant and Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) equipment on Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), both onshore and offshore.
Developed collaboratively by wind farm owners, operators and developers, the WTSRs are a model set of Safety Rules designed to formalise a Safe System of Work (SSoW). They are intended to manage risks associated with Plant and LV equipment and to ensure protection against electro-mechanical and system derived hazards within WTGs. The WTSSRs address a similar need but extend the scope by managing Plant and both LV and HV equipment together under a single SSoW within WTGs.
The strategic direction for both the WTSRs and WTSSRs is set by the Energy Institute, in partnership with SafetyOn and the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation, with oversight and continuous development supported through the Wind Operational Safety Rules Group (WOSRG).
