The Energy Industries Council’s March 2026 Bankable Energies conference gathered financiers and borrowers to map out how to bridge the gap between net zero targets and the capital deployment required to reach them. With global investment in the energy transition hitting a record $2.3tn in 2025, the day’s conversation focused on risk mitigation and structured finance. From force majeure to restart: the engineering and project delivery priorities after disruption to LNG infrastructure

Force majeure was declared by several Middle East oil and gas suppliers in the wake of damage received during the early stages of the US/Israel-Iran war. The term is used when conflict, physical damage or a major external event interrupts supply. It can trigger contractual protections, explain missed cargoes and provide a legal frame for disruption. But in LNG, force majeure is only the beginning of the story. The real test starts immediately afterwards, when operators, engineers and project teams have to answer a much harder question: what does it actually take to bring damaged infrastructure back safely, credibly and sustainably into service? Renewable energy drives UK power generation past 50% for second year

Renewable energy sources generated a record 52.5% of the UK’s electricity in 2025, according to government data. This marks the second consecutive year renewables have exceeded 50% of total generation, up from 50.4% in 2024.

UKA Group and Nordex Group have commissioned the Mahlsdorf wind farm in Steinreich, Germany, featuring the first global use of the Nordex N175/6.X turbine. With an installed capacity of 68 MW, the project sets a benchmark for economically utilising sites with moderate wind conditions.
